The Las Vegas Aces season kicks off today and all of us Vegas locals have high hopes for this season. It was a busy offseason for the Aces with trades, signings, and exciting draft picks. Let’s have a look what happened and what we can expect from the ladies this season.
Roster Overhaul
In a major offseason move, the Aces traded longtime star Kelsey Plum to the Los Angeles Sparks. In return, they acquired Jewell Loyd, a two-time WNBA champion and the 2023 scoring leader, from the Seattle Storm.
Departures
The team also saw the exit of key players:
- Sydney Colson signed with the Indiana Fever.
- Tiffany Hayes joined the Golden State Valkyries.
- Alysha Clark returned to the Seattle Storm.
Injuries
New addition Cheyenne Parker-Tyus is sidelined due to pregnancy, and center Megan Gustafson is out indefinitely with a lower leg injury.
Rookies to Watch
Aaliyah Nye
Drafted 13th overall from the University of Alabama, Nye is a 6’0″ guard/forward known for her scoring ability.

Selected 24th overall in the 2024 draft, Kitley missed last season due to an ACL injury. The 6’6″ center from Virginia Tech is expected to bolster the Aces’ frontcourt depth.
